METAL QUALITY DESCRIPTIONS:

14K Gold is made up of 60% pure gold with base metal (alloys) for strength.

10K Gold is made up of 40% pure gold with base metal (alloys) for strength.

Double Gold Filled is a thin layer of 10K gold bonded to both the front and back of a reinforcing metal core. Double gold filled is 20% (10% face of pin/10% back of pin) 10K gold and 80% alloys.

Single Gold Filled is a thin layer of 10K gold bonded to the front of a reinforcing metal core. Gold filled is 10% (face of pin only) 10K gold and 90% alloys.

Sterling Silver is an alloy of 92.5% pure silver with 7.5% copper. Sterling Silver is generally rhodium plated to prevent some tarnishing.

Gold Plate involves pressing a small amount of gold or silver over a base metal (brass) through an electrochemical process.
